Work with Erin.
A few years ago, I took some time off from a stressful advertising job to travel, get fit, volunteer and reconnect with the world. I spent part of that year in Kenya, Spain, and the Caribbean and the rest reconnecting with my favourite people at home in Canada, including my sweet father who had recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. It was quite a year.
When I got back to NYC, I enrolled in a course with the goal of figuring out my next career - that thing we all refer to as 'our calling'. I began the course with the best of intentions, to start a company that helped women transform their lives through travel. I soon realized that the job was much bigger than that. People are generally pretty stress-free on vacation. But, it's the day-to-day stresses that send us into a tailspin.
One of my coaches introduced me to meditation, breathing techniques and Ayurveda, a form of holistic alternative medicine that believes it is possible to prevent illness as long as the body, mind, senses and spirit stay in equilibrium with nature. This approach seemed so logical. So, I read and listened to everything I could get my hands on. As I started to feel better, I fell in love with the idea that I might be able to help other people feel better too.
I decided to launch Find Your Zen to share what has worked for me. I also went back to school to complete an Ayurvedic Health Counselor Certification @ Kripalu and a Yoga Teacher Certification @ the Joschi Institute. I will be finished both in July and can't wait to start my own private practice.
The best part is that as I learn more, I also reap the benefits. And, I can't wait to share this wisdom of these two sister sciences with others.
